Have you ever heard the phrase that “More is better”? Well, this is also true when it comes to California notary services. To properly identify a person and be able to notarize a document, the name on the document and the name on the identification must match. Of course, this is not always the case especially when customers have middle names.
The National Notary Association (NNA) suggests to keep in mind the “More is better” phrase when it comes to California notary services. So if – for example – the name on the ID (whether a California driver license, or a passport) is John Matthew Levy, and the name typed on the document is John Levy, or John M. Levy, then a notary can safely proceed.
However if the name on the ID is only John Levy, but the document has a name that is longer than the name on the identification (John Matthew Levy for example), then the notary public cannot proceed.
