Real life examples of LegalDoom, # 2

We continue the three part series on real life examples of online inefficiencies or plain old rip-offs of incorporating services that our customers encountered recently, before finding out about our services.
A customer of The Document People-We the People of Woodland Hills told us that before meeting us, he spent $900 to incorporate a new entity in California with the expedite option, using an online website. He was offered to pick three names for his new liquor store. He picked (this is an example) LAX Liquor, then L.A.X. Liquor, and L.A.X. Liquor, Inc.
Had he contacted us we would have told him not only that that name was unavailable, but also that the three choices were in reality only one. Adding punctuation, or the word “Inc.” (just like geographical terms or numerals) is not enough to differentiate a name from another. Well, his “three” options got rejected, and he lost his money. So he came to us and we took care of him the right way.
We come across examples like this all the time. When opening a business, especially for the first time, there are already so many things that a person needs to take care of, from finding a suitable location, to marketing efforts, licenses, finding an accountant or CPA, maybe hiring employees, and the list goes on and on. Shouldn’t the first step of opening a corporation or LLC be left to the professionals who have been doing it for almost two decades?
