Our series of blogs about divorcing in California continues today with some notes about the Marital Settlement Agreement in a California Divorce.
A Marital Settlement Agreement in a California Divorce spells out the terms of the divorce and the relationship between the two spouses after the divorce. These agreements usually cover property division, child custody, child plans, debt division, spousal support and any other relevant issues related to the divorce. Sometimes they are pretty simple, especially in cases where there are no minor children nor assets and debts to be divided, but occasionally they are pretty elaborate agreements where visitation schedules and long list of properties and liabilities are spelled out for both parties to abide to.
